The MOFET Institute attributes strategic importance to its participation in European projects, and has taken certain decisions and actions to this end. Given the multidisciplinary character of its staff and its unique position –both in Israel and worldwide– supporting teacher educators’ professional development, MOFET is naturally suited for participation in, and in some cases, for the coordination of collaborative research, development, and implementation projects of the kind sponsored by the major R&D project funding programs in Europe. In particular, these include Horizon 2020 and Erasmus+, new editions of which were launched in 2014.

CS-Track
The HORIZON 2020 project, entitled “CS-Track“, is conducted under the leadership and coordination of MOFET, and with the co-participation of a multi-disciplinary team from eight institutions from six European countries (universities, research institutes and companies from Austria, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Greece and Spain). The aim of CS Track is to broaden our knowledge about Citizen Science and the impact Citizen Science activities can have in order to maximize its potential benefit on individual citizens, organizations, and society at large. CS Track will do this by investigating a large and diverse set of Citizen Science activities, gathering data from the web, carrying out interviews with key participants and by directly observing operational projects. Partners will use web-based analytics and multi-perspective analysis to understand the complex processes that are at the heart of Citizen Science activities. Data analytics will be used to understand the specificities of Citizen Science activities including their organisational and operational characteristics and scientific outcomes, what constitutes good practice, impacts on individual/group learning and success or failure indicators. We will also study societal aspects, related to the impact of Citizen Science activities on society, such as gender, age, geographical and socio-economic differences; as well as its impact on the way in which we view science as a discipline and our changing attitudes to science. CS Track will also create and support the development of a community of interest with whom we will disseminate good practices and formulate knowledge-based policy recommendations. The project lasts 36 months and involves 9 partners from 7 countries.
Promentors – Promoting Mentors Work in Education.
The PROMENTORS project aims to expand the successful MIT (Multi-player Induction Teams) model as a basis for a new model of mentors’ training implemented by academic teacher-training institutions and departments in Israel. In the new model, we will strengthen the MIT structure and include accredited courses at the B.Ed. level, as well as at the M.Ed. level. Mentors, beginning teachers, pedagogical advisors, and accompanying teachers, together with the school staff, will work together for maintaining mentors’ professional development. To reach these goals, PROMENTORS will study new models that take place in EU higher educational institutions in order to model their good practices and enrich the Israeli models that will be developed.
More information about the project is available in the project’s website!

Support Unit (IPSU)
A dedicated unit was established in the framework of MOFET’s Research Department to promote the Institute’s participation in European projects. This includes the search for projects and opportunities for collaboration, the preparation of proposals, and the eventual management of funded projects.
This unit offers a great deal of relevant expertise based on the experience and proven knowledge of its members. It will support the work of the Institute’s staff as well as that of other partner institutions joining MOFET in common actions for (or approaching MOFET for assistance in) seeking appropriate calls for proposals, crystallizing the project’s ideas, preparing the content and administrative information for the proposals, building the consortium (these projects are always international, collaborative, and multidisciplinary), and, in general, accompany and support the work undertaken in preparation for the submission of the proposal and beyond.
